(In order of relevance and appearance)
Please note that in Revenant Braves Surnames come first, then given names. When the story begins, Kei and Fio are each 15 years old.
High school begins in the 10th grade for them.
-
Kanzaki Kei (The Gale of Virtue) : Seeming to be a pretty average guy, Kei is often caught up in his own thoughts. These tend to be pretty shallow
though, for the most part, as Kei has yet to ponder the important questions in life. With no aspirations or goals, he is motivated
only by day to day activity with the objective of staying out of trouble. He was into games, comics, and the like in middle school
but has cut back greatly in an effort to better fit in with his peers, now that he's in high school.
Musashimaru-bushi (The Abiter of the Just) : Spirit-partner to Kei, Musashimaru-bushi (or Musashi for short) is a stubborn but wise old spirit. He
values friendship and justice over all else and is always willing to calmly explain aspects of the spiritual plane to the others when asked. He refers to
Kei as "brother" and clearly thinks highly of the boy's potential if given the proper direction. The terms of his contract stipulate that his host must always
do what they believe to be the right thing. He can only be summoned from the spiritual plane by noble-hearted blood.
Aoyama Fio: An enigmatic young lady who seems inexplicably hell-bent on helping others in situations where they have nowhere else
to turn. This desire has driven her to start an organization that has no specific focus for helping people, but essentially changes goals
on a day-to-day basis. She also seems to choose members for the group using her own set of special criteria (which are,
thusfar, unknown).
Gensai Sol (The Bolt of Courage) : An enthusiastic young man with a passion of all things nerdy. Raised on a comic book sense of justice, he is a student of the
martial art "Sen Genkotsu Ryu" and seeks to use his skills to fight evil. He is not in the least bit timid about his fanaticism and habitually
associates both common and specific elements from comics, anime and games with his real life. This can make many of the things he says seem
like gibberish to others, unless they are familiar with the subject matter. Despite all of this, he can still be quite down to earth and
understanding.
Mecha (The Fervent Pugilist) : Spirit-partner to Sol, Mecha is a hot-blooded old spirit and friend to Musashi. He values fighting and battle,
whether actually participating or just observing. He and Sol seem like kindred spirits at first glance, but Mecha is less concerned with justice than
Sol and moreso concerned with seeing a good fight. This aspect of his personality can cause some mischief, but he's not all bad. He still would like
to see justice served, but preferably with a side of epic fighting. The terms of his contract stipulate that his host must not ever walk away from a fight
unless they truly believe that there has been a victor. He can only be summoned from the spiritual plane by impetuous blood.
Ichikawa Celeste (The Marine of Contentment) : Expert cook and daughter of the Pirate King of the Northern Skies, she was supposedly sent by her father to join the Revenant Braves
and help them fight off vices. She is generally very polite and pleasant, but has a bizarre obsession with firearms which becomes apparent when
she is given the chance to use them and her behaviour quickly becomes erratic and frenzied. This lies in complete opposition to her cute face and
normally responsible and caring demeanor.
Fleure (The Blissful Epicure) : Spirit-partner to Celeste, Fleure is a easy-going spirit. She highly values the enjoyment of consuming delicious
food and drink. Compared to some of the other ancient spirits, she comes across as slothful and gluttonous, but she considers it simply "enjoying life",
the same way Mecha enjoys fighting, especially because of the fact that food does not exist on the spiritual plane. In particular, she enjoys wine and
gourmet food but as a gourmand, she enjoys a wide variety of things to some extent. The terms of her contract stipulate that her host must prepare for her
high-quality food and drink on a regular basis. She can only be summoned from the spiritual plane by the blood of a master chef.
Saito Pyrus : An experienced and honour-driven warrior-pirate, sent by the Pirate King of the Northern skies to watch carefully over Celeste as her
bodyguard and as a friend. He is highly suspicious of anyone who approaches her and will defend her at the drop of a pin. He took an immediate disliking to
Kei, Fio and Sol, but it is Sol in particular who he clashes with the most, as Sol was the one to defeat him in their initial fight. He doesn't like that
Celeste spends time with them, but can do nothing against her orders because of his own code of honour and personal respect for her and her father.
Inafune Serge: An aquaintance of Kei's, Serge is a friendly face, but not much more. Kei enjoys his company, but often finds himself
bored by the conversation. Serge is well-intentioned, but hopelessly generic. Often teases Kei about his relationship with Fio.
Kanzaki Lilith: The owner of her own cafe, Kei's mother is a charming woman with few faults. Her few faults, however, include a severe
and unpredictable temper. The most frequent victim of these emotional stalagmites is her part-timer, Ken.
Gotou Ken: A part-time worker at The Satisfaction Cafe, Ken is a sheepish but spirited young man who would do anything to please his
girlfriend.
